Register as a Steward for MMitD 2026
Interested in helping out at Medieval Music in the Dales this year?
Our Stewards make the festival happen and we are very grateful to everyone who helps out.
Read on for more information, and sign up below.
For returning Stewards, please note the new Day Off option!
What we ask from you:
You need to give a minimum of 20 hours’ volunteering over the course of the Festival, and this can include participating in set-up on Wednesday and Thursday, and clearing up on Monday.
You must be available for a minimum of 24 hours in the period Thursday 2pm through to Monday 12 noon. Letting us know your availability helps us assign your 20 hours fairly over the course of the event.
You need to offer at least two full Volunteering Days out of Friday, Saturday and Sunday and you must be available for a full 8 hours on each of your Volunteering Days (though you won’t necessarily do all 8 hours each day).
On each Volunteering Day, you can choose to do ONE of the Choirs or Big Band (one session each day) OR choose one workshop or concert per day. We can’t guarantee attendance at more than this on your Volunteering Days - and it always depends on availability at the time of your application.
What we offer:
£15/day in food vouchers to use at our festival caterers plus free tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the event
2 drinks vouchers/day to use at festival taverns
·Free camping on site at Bolton Castle OR free Glamping if you are happy to share a tent OR £25 per night towards off-site accommodation
Free attendance at one Evening Concert (confirm in advance and if there is remaining availability)
Free ticket to the Sunday Night Party
Choice of ONE workshop, talk or concert per Volunteering Day (depending on availability)
Offer of a Day Off Stewarding with discounted admission rate for that day
Volunteering Days? Day Off? An Explanation
Ideally we ask Stewards to be available on each and all of the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Medieval Music in the Dales.
However, if there is a lot you want to do on any particular day of the Festival, you can take that day off and purchase a day ticket for the relevant day at the Performer Rate (50% discount = £37.50).
You’ll then need to be available Thursday and/or Monday to make up your hours helping with Festival Set Up and Take Down. Make sure this is possible and tick the appropriate days on the application form.
You’ll need to confirm your Volunteering Days / Day Off at the latest 6 weeks before the Festival.
NB - if you’d like to help out but don’t want to commit to being a Steward, that’s really useful too - drop me a line
