Apply to be a Castle Stage Performer at MMitD 2026

This page has all the information you need if you would like to play on the Castle Stages at MMitD this year, and an application form to get the ball rolling. Please read through the information carefully as it will help you make an effective and successful application.

Castle Stage Performers agree to provide:

• Two 25 (approx) minute performances over the course of the weekend. The two sets can be the same or different as you prefer.

• To play STRICTLY AND ONLY medieval music in their performances. For MMitD this means music securely sourced from BEFORE 1500CE. A vague idea that a tune ‘goes way back’ and might be medieval is not sufficient! This is our most important rule. Please observe it.

In return, Castle Stage Performers get a package of benefits.

• All Castle Stage Performers automatically get a Participant Pass which gives them access to everything EXCEPT the concerts in St Oswald’s and Queen Mary’s Chamber and workshops. (NB: Camping, Evening Concerts and 1-2-1 Tuition still have to be paid for separately). Unlike everyone else, you don’t need to buy a Festival Pass. But…

• Castle Stage Performers can upgrade to a Festival Pass with a 50% discount. This will get them access to the concerts in St Oswald’s and Queen Mary’s Chamber and to the workshops. You can choose to get a one-day, two-day or three-day Pass, depending on what workshops and/or concerts you might particularly like to attend.

• Castle Stage Performers also get a 50% discount on Evening Concerts and the Sunday night party..

So, if you aren’t bothered about attending any daytime concerts or workshops, you can attend the Festival for nothing. But if you want to make the most of the amazing talent we have performing at the Festival, you can do so at a massive discount.
